Englishpoint Marina is a unique, contemporary, architectural marvel that started off as a dream by two Kenyan brothers, Alnoor and Amyn Kanji. The Mombasa born brothers had the vision when they acquired the property at EnglishPoint to recognise it's unique location and untapped potential. It sits across the stunning old Mombasa skyline in a natural marine basin with a breakwater coral shelf that is perfect for a marina. Out of this vision was born the idea to bring to Kenya, a modern, international development that offers the best in lifestyle and luxury, as well as the region’s first serviced marina to cater for the luxury boating market. The guiding principle was to build a resort to the highest international standards of design, functionality and safety and to incorporate the latest energy saving, recyclable and renewable technologies. In their words, "it had to be a landmark development and it had to add value to Mombasa."
Alnoor and Amyn have assembled an excellent team of professionals to realize their vision for EnglishPoint. These include Broadway Malyan, a leading international practice of architects, urbanists and designers; Beckett Rankine who did the preliminary feasibility and master plan of the marina; Walcon Marine, prominent Marina consultants; XCO2 for best practice on sustainability issues and Helen Barker of 2designs in Mombasa who did all the interiors and landscape.
What started off as just a vision, has grown to be the unique facility it is, which includes a world class boutique hotel with international standards, beautiful modern apartments that are both for sale and rent and a fully serviced floating Marina. To add on to that, the boardwalk at Englishpoint has become the “It” place for the Mombasa populace to spend time at. Not only do they enjoy the amazing views from the Boardwalk, but also the amazing cafes, restaurant and bar available on site.
Englishpoint Marina is a hub of activity which has elevated the status of Mombasa, if not Kenya. It has epitomized luxury while maintaining comfort and affordability. It truly is a unique institution which will continue to grow.
