About Us

Mombasa born brothers Alnoor and Amyn had the vision when they acquired EnglishPoint to recognise its unique location and untapped potential. It sits across the stunning old Mombasa skyline in a natural marine basin with a breakwater coral shelf that is perfect for a marina. Out of this vision was born the idea to bring to Kenya, a modern international development that offers the best in lifestyle and luxury, as well as the region's first serviced marina to cater for the luxury boating market. The guiding principle was to build a resort to the highest international standards of design, functionality and safety and to incorporate the latest energy saving, recyclable and renewable technologies. In their words, ‘it had to be a landmark development and it had to add value to Mombasa'.

Alnoor and Amyn both gained degrees in the UK with Alnoor successfully qualifying with a BSc degree in Pharmacy from Leicester and Amyn with a BA Hons degree and MBBS in Medicine from Oxford and London. Alnoor spent time in the UK and Canada working within the Pharmacy sector before returning to Kenya to become the Managing Director of Jubilee Hardwares Ltd in Mombasa and undertaking the development and management of Pinewood Village Beach Resort. Amyn continued his medical training in the UK and is currently a Partner in a GP Practice in the south of England.

Alnoor and Amyn have assembled an excellent team of professionals to realise their vision for EnglishPoint. These include Broadway Malyan, a leading international practice of architects, urbanists and designers; Beckett Rankine who did the preliminary feasibility and masterplan of the marina; Walcon Marine, prominent Marina consultants; XCO2 for best practice on sustainability issues and Dr E. May & Partners in Mombasa.

Construction of the Show Home started in October 2009. It is now complete and open for viewing. See ‘Show House Interior'. The main development has now started and completion is expected in October 2012.

The brothers bring with them the experience of building and managing the award winning Pinewood Village Beach Resort in Galu Beach, south of Mombasa. Alnoor was struck by the beauty and tranquility of Galu Beach when he first set foot on this pristine 4.5 km stretch of beach in 1989. They broke ground and commenced construction in January 1990 and opened Pinewood Village in December 1991 delivering a world class boutique hotel and resort.

Pinewood Village has received many awards since opening including Tripadvisor's 2009 Travelers' Choice Award, Customer Excellence Awards from AfricaSky.co.uk in 2006 and 2007 and an Excellence of Service Award from Tropical Places voted for by their customers.
